Port Washington Elementary is located in the villiage of Port Washington. It is part of the Indian Valley Local School District in Tuscarawas County. The Indian Valley District is comprised of one high school (in Gnadenhutten), on middle school (in Tuscarawas), and two elementary schools (one in Midvale and the other in Port Washington). The district enrolment is approximately 1800 students.

Port Washington Elementary is a K-5 building with an enrollment of 445 students. The new building was finished in the summer of 2007 with new amenities of air conditioning, modern technologies, and modern security features.

Port Washington Elementary offers a high quality education combined with a caring staff to provide students with the best possible environment in which to learn. In the past, this dedication resulted in the Port Washington Elementary School being named a 2003 NCLB Blue Ribbon School and also being designated as an Ohio School of Promise.

Students in the elementary schools acquire skills in the academic areas of Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. They also have related arts selections in Art, Music, Physical Education, Computer, and Library. Extra services are also offered to students in programs such as CAB (Challenge Adcademic Braves), Character Education, Wellness Programs, Accelerated Reader, Extended DAy Tutoring, and Computer-based enrichment.

Mr. Roger Bond, current principal, has been in the education field for 27 years with the last 12 years as administrator of the Port Washington Elementary School. The school secretary, Sherry Morrison, has been greeting students and parents of Port Washington for the last 18 years.
