Mock Trial is a state wide event in which each school creates a team of four witnesses and four attorneys. All teams state wide are given the same fictitious court case. They will then compete by acting out both sides of the case at a hearing in court. Each side (Prosecution and Defendant) has advantages and weaknesses in their case. The winner of the competition is the team that best presents their side of the argument. In the competition, our Defense will go against the other school's Prosecution and vice verse. The winner at each level moves on to the next level. Ohio's state winner will go to the Nationals.
This year we are in the process of rebuilding our team. We lost key members due to graduation and our focus this year will be to develop young team members.
Our case this year is State of Ohio vs. Storm Jackson. The case is a hearing of a Motion to suppress records that the policd obtained without a warrant. The Mock Trial team should have a lot of fun with this case.
